Implants
A denture that
never slips.
A removable denture that snaps securely onto 2–4 implants — the stability of implants with the flexibility of a denture.
What It Is
Implant-Supported Dentures.
Implant-supported dentures — also called snap-on dentures or implant-retained overdentures — combine the stability of dental implants with the flexibility of a removable prosthetic. Two to four implants are placed in the jaw and fitted with attachments; your custom overdenture snaps securely onto those attachments and stays put through every meal, every conversation, every laugh.
- 3D imaging consultation
- 2 to 4 implants placed per arch
- Custom overdenture fitted to snap onto the implants
- Removable for cleaning, stable when worn
The Process
From consultation to confident smile.
The implants are placed in a single visit; the bulk of the timeline is healing while your jawbone integrates with the implants.
01
3D Imaging Consult
A complimentary visit with 3D cone-beam imaging to assess bone volume, gum health, and the optimal number and position of implants.
02
Implant Placement
Under sedation, 2 to 4 implants per arch are placed in the jawbone. Most patients leave with a temporary prosthetic the same day.
03
Final Overdenture
Once your implants have integrated (typically 3–6 months), your custom overdenture is fitted with the snap-on attachments that lock it securely in place.
Common Questions
Implant-supported denture answers.
How is this different from a regular denture?
A conventional denture sits on top of the gums and relies on suction or adhesive, which means it can shift when you eat, affect speech, and accelerate bone loss over time. An implant-supported denture snaps securely onto implants anchored in the jawbone — it doesn't move, it preserves the bone, and most patients describe eating and speaking as dramatically easier.
How many implants do I need?
Most lower-arch cases use 2 implants; most upper-arch cases use 4. Dr. Vivacqua will recommend the right number after reviewing your 3D imaging — the goal is enough implants for reliable stability without unnecessary cost or surgery.
Can I still take the denture out?
Yes — that's a key feature. You unsnap the prosthetic daily to clean it and the implant attachments underneath, then snap it back into place. The implants themselves stay anchored in your jaw permanently.
Will I have teeth right away?
In most cases, you will leave with a temporary prosthetic the same day as your implant placement. Your final, custom-fitted overdenture is delivered several months later, once the implants have fully integrated.
How long do implant-supported dentures last?
The implants themselves can last a lifetime with proper care. The overdenture itself typically lasts 5 to 10 years before relining or replacement is considered, depending on wear. Routine hygiene visits and nightly cleaning of the prosthetic are essential.
